Job Summary:

The organization is seeking a Medical Surgical Rehabilitation Floor registered nurse in Norfolk, Nebraska. This role involves providing care for patients recovering from stroke, trauma, cardiac events, spinal cord injuries, and other neurologic or orthopedic conditions. The position requires clinical expertise in acute rehab settings, with the ability to manage patients with diverse diagnoses and treatment plans.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, starting on 08/18/2026


• Required Qualifications: Valid license to practice as a registered nurse, BLS (American Heart Association or ARC) certification, CPI certification, 1 year of experience in medical-surgical or acute rehab nursing, experience with IVs, straight caths, foleys, antibiotics, and isolation patients. First-time travelers are welcome, and Epic experience is preferred.


• Patient Population and Responsibilities: Care for stroke, trauma, cardiac, debility, spinal cord injury, neuro, and orthopedic patients. Nurses will manage IV insertions and patient assessments, participate in interdisciplinary team meetings weekly, and provide clinical support on the unit.


• Unit Notes: The unit has a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3-4, with two nurses on shift when there are more than five patients. There is telemetry monitoring at a central station, but nurses do not read strips. Float to other units such as MS (Medical Surgical), Step-down, and BHU (Behavioral Health Unit) may be required.


• Additional Information: The department utilizes the EPIC charting system. The orientation includes a single shift. Uniform color is navy. No charge nurse role; house supervisors manage day-to-day staff needs. The unit maintains a low-acuity rehab environment with an average length of stay between 7-10 days, up to 30 days.
