Job Summary:
The Labor and Delivery (L&D) specialty position is based in a healthcare facility located in Bellefontaine, Ohio. This role involves providing comprehensive patient care within the labor and delivery department, ensuring safety and comfort for mothers and newborns during the postpartum period. The position requires a dedicated professional skilled in maternal and neonatal care, supporting the physical and emotional needs of patients throughout their childbirth experience.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights shift with 12 hours shift time, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid Ohio or compact license, BSN degree preferred, at least 1 year of labor and delivery experience, ACLS (American Heart Association), BLS (American Heart Association), and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications must be active and through AHA. COVID vaccination status required; vaccination card must be provided if vaccinated.
- Demonstrates ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment on patients and reassessments as per policy.
- Assesses and manages pain using appropriate evaluation methods and educates patients and families on pain management.
- Develops, revises, and evaluates plans of care based on patient responses.
- Provides age-appropriate care considering growth and development principles across the lifespan.
- Administers medications correctly, adhering to the five medication rights.
- Formulates and activates teaching plans based on identified learning needs, involving family as appropriate.
- Performs services requiring technical and manual skills within the scope of licensure; seeks guidance for issues beyond scope.
- Treats patients and families with respect and dignity while addressing psycho-social, cultural, ethnic, and spiritual needs.
- Functions as a liaison between administration, patients, physicians, and healthcare providers, involving patients and families in care planning.
- Ensures all documentation complies with current standards and policies.
- Operates and manages equipment safely and correctly.
- Coordinates patient care and supervises as necessary; demonstrates flexibility and organizational skills in stressful situations.
- Performs and maintains annual competencies, including bedside blood glucose waived testing.
- Capable of effective communication with team members and other departments.
