Job Summary:
Emergency Room (ER) registered nurse position located in Franklin, Indiana. This role involves providing high-quality patient care in a community hospital setting with a focus on emergency interventions, patient boarding, and rapid response. The ER nurse will float across various units as needed and work a 12-hour night shift schedule.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Must have a minimum of 2 years of recent emergency room experience working in community hospitals or critical access hospitals; certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS); must hold a current license to practice.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Cerner electronic medical record system, IV placement, EKG interpretation, and rhythm analysis. Experience with moderate sedation, trauma bays, and handling diverse patient populations ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics is preferred.
- Additional Information: The hospital has 26 beds with 3 trauma bays and a designated treatment area with 4 beds. ER operates with a single triage area, and nurses manage their own patient holds within the department. Security is available 24/7, and in-house respiratory therapy assists with breathing treatments and intubations. Telemetry monitoring is in place; nurses read and interpret EKG strips. Critical patients are transported to radiology by staff, with RN support for transfers when necessary. The unit manages approximately 60 patients per day, with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 to 4. Staff training includes unit-specific orientation of 1-2 shifts with a preceptor.
- Other Expectations: The role requires punctuality, a commitment to the assignment, and flexibility to work holidays if needed. The team uses navy blue scrubs without facial piercings (except nose with mask), gauges, or vulgar tattoos. No call or standby responsibilities are included.
