Job Summary:
A Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) position is available in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This role involves providing care in general medical and surgical units, managing a diverse patient population with various diagnoses and procedures. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of assignment.
Job Details:
- Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana
- Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, with 3 weekend shifts in a 4-week period, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: IN license (or compact license as of 7/1/20), BLS certification through the American Heart Association, at least 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary experience, and at least 1 year of MedSurg experience at a facility with 600 or more beds
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with assessments, care planning, inter-professional communication, utilization of the electronic health record (EHR), IV pumps, wound vacs, heat/cooling pads, feeding pumps, feeding tubes, chest tubes, and management of heparin and insulin drips
- Equipment utilized includes: Epic electronic record, pyxis machines, Accucheck blood glucose monitors, Hospira IV pumps, sequential compression devices (SCDs), heating/cooling pads, telemetry monitoring
- Float: Float to other medical units within the general medical and surgical departments; float rotation may be required
- Additional Information: Client may call off or cancel up to 24 hours for each 13-week assignment; 8 hours of non-billable orientation; dress code is Caribbean Blue scrubs; supplemental staff undergo Jump Start orientation including 1 day of general hospital orientation and approximately 5 days of nursing orientation, including Epic classes
