Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse (RN) position in Kearney, Nebraska. This role involves providing critical patient care in a high-acuity unit with a diverse caseload, including trauma, cardiac, overdose/substance abuse, and post-procedural patients. Candidates are required to bring their nursing license on the first day of assignment.
Job Details:
- Location: Kearney, Nebraska
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) valid certifications required at submission.
- Education/Experience: Minimum of 2 years of ICU nursing experience and active license required.
- Schedule: Nights shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 48 hours per week.
- Department: ICU (Intensive Care Unit)
- Patient Ratio: 1:2-3 for adults
- Common diagnoses/types of patients: Trauma, cardiac, overdose/substance abuse, adults sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, respiratory distress.
- Nurse Titration: Yes, required to titrate any cardiac drips, insulin, sedation.
- Additional responsibilities: Monitor and interpret electronic cardiac monitoring systems (brand GE), troubleshoot ventilators (Nasal cannula to vents), and assist with bedside procedures.
- Float Requirements: Typically float to Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Medical-Surgical units; patient ratios on float units are 1:4 or 1:5.
- Holiday Requirements: Minimum of two holidays during contract timeframe.
- Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend.
- Orientation: One shift of department-specific orientation.
- RTO (Request for Time Off): Upfront RTO requests of 7 days or less per 13-week contract; additional RTO requests are not approved.
- Additional information: Minimum of 2 holidays that fall within contract time frame. Candidates must pass a pass/fail exam during orientation with a 90% score to continue. Artificial nails are prohibited, and candidates must adhere to fingernail policy.
- Shift Notes: Night shifts, 12 hours, with possible self-scheduling for core staff and traveler assignments. Block scheduling is not guaranteed.
- Cancelation Policy: The facility may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment.
- Charting System: EPIC.
- Bed Capacity: 33 beds, average daily census of 16.
