POSTION SUMMARY:
Crinetics Pharmaceuticals is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to manage the administration of the Company’s contracts. This position will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and gaining the necessary approvals for execution of contracts as necessary to support the Company’s needs. This is a unique opportunity to identify improvements to business processes, implement changes and lead the coordination of contracts within a growing drug discovery and development team. The dedicated and ambitious person who takes this role will have a strong attention to detail and be comfortable working flexibly as part of a multifunctional team to solve both legal and business matters in a small company environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work closely with attorneys, the finance department and business unit personnel to support the timely initiation, negotiation, review, execution, and administration of contracts and agreements
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to maximize the efficiency of contract negotiation, administration, maintenance, and related activities
- Keep track of all important details of an agreement, including key deliverables, milestones, dates, deadlines, and opt-out/negotiation windows, and termination or cancellation requirements
- Participate in development of RFPs and proposal reviews and ensure alignment with contract strategies and business objectives
- Ensure that executed contracts are appropriately maintained in the Company’s system of record in compliance with applicable laws and the Company’s record retention policy
- Review, draft, and document suggested language changes, and oversee resolution of all proposed changes to the provider services agreement
- Understand the contract portfolio, identify trends, implement process improvements, provide ongoing contract reporting, and present findings to stakeholders throughout the company
- Solve current contract-related problems and anticipate future issues that may arise with either other parties and internally
- Draft and negotiate a variety of clinical contracts, including standard and complex arrangements; as well as review and advise on informed consent issues, patient recruitment materials, data sharing, certain collaborations and other relevant clinical / contracting issues
- Review, draft and revise form agreements as well as non-standard agreements, amendments, purchase orders, etc. Negotiate contracts and escalate complex legal and factual issues to attorneys and assist in resolution.
- Ensure execution of approved contracts, including timely handoff to internal stakeholders
- Negotiate rates and contract terms with currently contracted providers
- Other tasks as assigned
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Bachelor’s Degree, plus a minimum of 7 years’ relevant work experience
- Previous contract administration or related experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry is a must
- Excel at time management and the ability to optimize the contract management process for greater efficiency
- Experience with contract management systems
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically to negotiate complicated financial payment and other contractual terms, knowledge to discuss and negotiate in real time; ability to consider liabilities to the company and mitigate them
- Strong analytical, verbal, written and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in MS Suite applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint and Outlook
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
Equipment: PC, scanners, facsimile machine, voice mail and e-mail systems, and common office machines, or ability to be trained.
Software Knowledge: Windows, MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel). Prior experience with electronic systems such as EDC, TMF, CTMS and IWRS required.
EFFORT REQUIRED/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Physical Activities: On a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
