Job Title: Beginning January 26, 2026; Leave Replacement Position - Music Teacher grades K FTE)

General Description: The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and providing a choral/instrumental music program for grades K-12 with time split between elementary, middle and high school students. Possibility of coaching positions is also available. Assignment may include Band, Beginning Band, Chorus, and other music classes. Ability or willingness to teach in other academic areas is desirable. The successful candidate should also have the ability to work in a small, rural, collaborative learning community and advisory work, if necessary, and enjoy the capacity to work with struggling and advanced students. The teacher will foster a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth and motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge consistent with school and state standards.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Instruct in choral/instrumental technique, music literacy, music history/styles, performance etiquette.
- Candidate should have strong vocal pedagogy skills and competency on various musical instruments.
- Knowledge of rehearsal techniques, appropriate choral literature, adolescent vocal development.
- Knowledge of use of technology to enhance delivery of instruction and ability to manage sound systems and other music technology
- Community performance at local/state festivals.
- Exceptional organization, communication, and classroom management skills.
- Ability to create a classroom learning environment that is engaging, orderly, secure and appealing for students and in which mutual respect is shown.
- Washington State teaching certificate with appropriate music endorsement(s).
- Knowledge and skill in instructional principles, methods and techniques.
- Skill in obtaining, clarifying and exchanging information.
- Skill in handling student discipline.
- Maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality in all matters pertaining to students, parents, staff and program.
- Experience providing an enthusiastic and positive learning climate that promotes appropriate behavior and successful learning.
- Possess knowledge and skills regarding Washington State Standards.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of people in a multicultural, diverse socio-economic setting.
- Commitment to collaboration and demonstrated ability to positively contribute to decision making with administrators, other staff members and the parent community.
- Attend staff or team meetings and serve on staff committees as necessary.
- Assist the administration in implementing all policies and roles governing student life and conduct.
- Demonstrated ability to use district or state standards for grade level expectations to plan appropriate lesson objectives, identify resources, design learning experiences, and to group students based on assessed needs.
- Demonstrated ability to work with and motivate students and to implement a variety of effective teaching methods based on understanding of student abilities and needs.
- Facilitate successful learning by using a variety of teaching strategies to meet the needs of all students.
- Knowledge and ability to assess and design instruction for a classroom of diverse learners (English Language Learners [ELL], highly capable, learning disabled, autistic, orthopedically or gross-motor impaired, health impaired, communication disordered, behavior disabilities, etc.).
- Closely monitor student progress by using quality classroom-based and purchased assessments.
- Provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of the student.
- Successful teaching experience at grade level preferred.
- Ability to analyze your own instructional practices through regular and ongoing observations and dialogues associated with peer mentoring and coaching.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Successful candidates must also be able to pass a Washington State Patrol and FBI fingerprint background screening prior to employment.
