What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Communications Specialist position at Creative Circle?
Our client in the nonprofit space is seeking a Communications Specialist to work with their team on a 40 hr/week contract until the end of Dec. 2026. This role will support the marketing communications team by leading brand-level social media execution and supporting broader communications initiatives that engage the global scientific community.
This is a hybrid position that will require you to come onsite to their Washington, DC office every Wednesday and Thursday.
Communications Specialist Responsibilities:
- Drive the implementation and ongoing execution of brand-level social media strategy
- Support and guide product teams on social media presence and best practices
- Create, write, edit, and manage social and digital content across platforms
- Collaborate with stakeholders and support media inquiries and engagement efforts
- Test new tactics, analyze performance, and make data-informed recommendations
- Manage projects and requests using tools like Asana
- Provide general communications support to the Lead, Strategic Communications
Communications Specialist Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required (communications, science, or related field preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in communications and/or social media, ideally at a high-profile organization
- Experience engaging with researchers or scientific audiences
- Strong writing, editing, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Proficiency with social media management tools (Brandwatch, Buffer, Sprout, or Hootsuite)
- Experience with Canva and light graphic design
In this position, you may have access to client or customer systems, confidential and/or proprietary information or data. This position is onsite and requires you to work closely with other individuals in a collaborative team environment.
