Marketing Specialist

Our client is looking for an innovation-focused Marketing Specialist, bilingual in Japanese, to support their team on a year long contract, 12-20 hours per week on a remote basis, with occasional onsite requirement for key events in Menlo Park, CA. 

The Marketing Specialist will support the team with driving increased visibility, impact, and influence of a leading innovation center. This role reports to the Managing Director and works within an industry-focused commercialization group that collaborates across technology and business sectors. The position will also coordinate with the organizations marketing and communications team. 

The Marketing Specialist must be fluent in Japanese, both speaking and writing. 

Marketing Specialist Responsibilities: 
- Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing and communication strategy for the innovation center. 
- Manage marketing processes and outputs for current and future programs as the center scales. 
- Serve as the first point of contact for internal and external stakeholders on marketing and communication activities. 
- Coordinate with internal and external teams to deliver content across multiple channels (social media, websites, email, PR, internal communications, sales materials). 
- Produce or oversee multimedia content creation (visuals, copy, video, audio). 
- Manage content calendars for social media, blogs, newsletters, and campaigns. 
- Collaborate with external agencies and freelancers on press releases, campaigns, and projects. 
- Maintain a cohesive brand voice and market position that differentiates the center and communicates its mission effectively. 
- Execute and report on marketing campaigns, including social media engagement, website analytics, and PR performance. 
- Optimize digital campaigns for organic traffic growth using SEO tools and metadata strategies. 
- Analyze web and ad metrics against business goals. 
- Collaborate with overseas stakeholder in Tokyo, managing deadlines within their timezones. 

Marketing Specialist Requirements: 
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, or related field. 
- Minimum 3-6 years of marketing experience in B2B environments, agencies, or similar. 
- Expert proficiency in Japanese language (mandatory). 
- Experience in digital marketing (SEO, Google Ads, social media, email marketing, influencer campaigns). 
- Strong copywriting skills for digital platforms. 
- Familiarity with marketing and analytics tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Hootsuite, MailChimp, HubSpot, Google Analytics). 
- Excellent communication, media relations, and project management skills. 
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities. 
- Flexibility to adjust schedule for urgent business needs and occasional onsite presence for key events. 
- Passion for science, technology, and research.
