Our higher education client is seeking a Marketing and Communications Specialist to join their IT department for a 12 month hybrid assignment in Boston, MA. The Marketing and Communications Specialist supports an IT Services organization by planning and delivering coordinated, high-quality content across key communication channels. This mid-level role focuses heavily on AI enablement, shaping how a university community understands, adopts, and uses technology tools and services. The Specialist serves as a bridge between technical teams and non-technical audiences, translating complex topics into clear, practical, and audience-focused communications while maintaining a broader content strategy that supports IT services, initiatives, and operational needs.

The Basics
Duration: 12 month assignment 
Hours per week: Full-time, approximately 40 hours per week
Location requirements: Hybrid in Boston, MA

Required Qualifications

• Strong experience in a mid-level marketing, communications, or content role with exceptional writing and editing skills
• Proven ability to plan, manage, and execute editorial calendars and content strategies across multiple channels
• Demonstrated success communicating technical or complex topics clearly to non-technical audiences, with comfort using AI tools in daily work

Other Qualifications
Experience with technology, AI, or digital services communications is highly valued. Familiarity with web content management systems, email marketing platforms, analytics tools, UX writing, or accessibility standards is a plus. Candidates with experience using AI for drafting, editing, research, or workflow optimization, as well as those with exposure to multimedia or visual storytelling, will be well positioned for this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain an integrated content strategy aligned with IT Services priorities, including AI-related initiatives
• Plan, manage, and execute editorial calendars across web, email, and digital channels, including ownership of a monthly newsletter
• Write, edit, and deliver clear, practical content that explains AI tools, use cases, governance, and responsible use
• Serve as an editor and content advisor, coordinating with stakeholders to ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment
• Create and edit content for web, email, digital interfaces, print, and user-facing systems
• Support and maintain digital channels, including websites and social platforms, using data and analytics to optimize performance
• Partner with technical teams and campus stakeholders to support communications for projects, service updates, and change initiatives
• Actively use AI tools to improve content quality, efficiency, and overall communication impact

In this position, you may have access to client or customer systems, confidential and/or proprietary information or data. This position is onsite and requires you to work closely with other individuals in a collaborative team environment.
