Content Producer (Editorial)

Our client is seeking a digital-first Content Producer with a strong journalism or editorial background to support a leading news and media organization during a high-volume coverage period. This role is ideal for a creative storyteller who understands how audiences consume content across digital channels and can transform editorial reporting into engaging, platform-specific promotional content.

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating compelling content that amplifies newsroom reporting across social media, broadcast, streaming, and digital platforms. Candidates must be based in New York City, Washington, D.C., or Atlanta and be available to work onsite as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce high-quality promotional content, including video, graphics, and written copy, for digital, social, broadcast, and streaming channels.
• Translate breaking news and editorial content into engaging, audience-focused formats.
• Write and edit scripts, headlines, captions, and promotional copy optimized for engagement and clarity.
• Adapt content to platform-specific best practices across social and digital channels.
• Ensure tone, pacing, and creative execution align with the unique audience and requirements of each platform.
• Monitor emerging trends, content formats, and social storytelling techniques.
• Collaborate closely with editors, reporters, producers, and cross-functional teams to identify promotable stories and content opportunities.
• Maintain editorial accuracy and integrity while developing promotional assets.
• Support live events, breaking news coverage, and major programming or content launches.
• Edit both short-form and long-form video content with speed and precision.
• Prepare and package content for digital and broadcast distribution.
• Incorporate graphics, music, animation, and motion design elements to enhance storytelling and audience engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in journalism, Communications, Media Production, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in digital media, content production, journalism, editorial, or a related field.
• Professional experience working within a newsroom, publishing environment, or editorial content team.
• Demonstrated success creating engaging content for social media and digital platforms.
• Strong editorial judgment and understanding of news values, storytelling, and audience engagement strategies.
• Proficiency with professional video editing software and creative production tools.
• Experience developing content for multiple distribution channels, including social media, broadcast, streaming, and digital platforms.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, particularly during breaking news or live coverage situations.
• Excellent writing, scripting, editing, and copy-editing skills.
• Strong understanding of digital culture, audience behavior, social trends, and emerging content formats.
• Highly collaborative with exceptional communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience supporting live coverage, special events, or major content launches, preferably with News stations or in the entertainment industry. 
• Knowledge of audience development, content promotion, and social media strategy.
• Familiarity with motion graphics, visual storytelling, and multimedia content production.
• Ability to balance creativity with editorial standards and brand guidelines.
