Role Description The Associate Underwriter role is a full-time, on-site position based in Coconut Creek, FL. This role supports underwriting activities by reviewing submissions, gathering required information, and assisting in the evaluation of risks in line with company guidelines.
The Associate Underwriter helps prepare quotes, proposals, and policy documentation, and coordinates with senior underwriters, brokers, and carrier partners to ensure accurate and timely responses.
Daily responsibilities may include policy rating, maintaining files and records, and responding to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
The position also contributes to continuous improvement by identifying process efficiencies, supporting special projects, and staying up to date on product offerings, market trends, and underwriting best practices.
Qualifications
- Foundational insurance and underwriting knowledge, including basic risk assessment, familiarity with policy forms, and an interest in specialty lines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and follow established underwriting guidelines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with underwriters, brokers, carrier partners, and internal teams.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, document preparation, and policy file maintenance.
- Solid organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple submissions, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with office productivity software and insurance-related systems; comfort working with databases and digital tools.
