Job Summary
This position is responsible for repairing a wide variety of transformers and switchgear at the company facility in Commerce City, CO, or at customer sites. The role requires hands-on technical skills, attention to safety, and the ability to complete work orders and inspections with minimal supervision. Travel up to 35% may be required.
Job Responsibilities: Repair transformers and switchgear, including re-gasketing, changing bushings, and tap changers. Drain and fill transformers with insulating oils using pumps. Conduct internal and external equipment inspections and document defects. Perform basic electrical testing (turns ratio, insulation resistance) and check connections inside transformers. Prepare transformers for painting; welding or painting skills can qualify for a hybrid role. Operate industrial equipment like forklifts safely, following capacity and load limits. Follow environmental and safety specifications, including OSHA guidelines. Complete work orders on time and report issues promptly. Work in harsh climates, including heat, cold, and outdoor conditions. Drive company trucks and trailers as needed and travel for work assignments.
Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED required. 2 years of shop/manufacturing or related experience. Valid driver’s license. Basic electrical knowledge or ability to learn quickly; experience with transformers is a plus. Strong communication skills for interacting with internal and external customers. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Forklift certification preferred. First Aid/CPR, AED, and OSHA 10 training preferred.,
