Position Overview
The Staff Accountant plays a key role in supporting the daily operations of the accounting department. This full-time, on-site position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and assisting with financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting activities.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives in a deadline-driven environment and can manage multiple priorities with accuracy and accountability.
Key Responsibilities General Accounting
Record daily financial transactions in QuickBooks
Prepare and post journal entries, including adjusting entries
Maintain and reconcile the general ledger
Ensure accurate GL coding and compliance with accounting procedures
Review accounts for discrepancies and resolve variances
Reconcile cash, notes receivable/payable, negotiable instruments, and canceled checks
Accounts Payable & Receivable
Process and verify AP and AR transactions
Ensure invoices are coded accurately and entered correctly
Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
Financial Reporting & Analysis
Assist with month-end close procedures
Prepare and analyze financial statements and accounting records
Support budget preparation and enter budget data into QuickBooks
Assist with forecasting and financial projections
Partner with leadership regarding financial performance and audit findings
Audit & Compliance
Support year-end audit preparation
Assist with special accounting projects and reporting needs
Additional Responsibilities
Provide backup support for payroll processing
Assist with onboarding and mentoring new team members
Meet deadlines and manage competing priorities
Respond to urgent business needs when required
Qualifications Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
Extensive accounting experience required (education may substitute for years of experience)
Experience in agricultural or multi-state operations is a plus
Technical Skills
Proficiency in QuickBooks required
Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards
