Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer who will take complete ownership of automotive components from initial concept through end-of-life. This role requires a unique blend of theoretical engineering knowledge and practical manufacturing expertise to rapidly prototype, design, source, and implement vehicle parts, tooling, and templates.
Key Responsibilities
Product Development & Lifecycle Management Own products through their entire lifecycle, from initial design concept through production ramp-up, manufacturing, and implementation. Rapidly prototype new components and assemblies to validate designs and manufacturing approaches Design parts, tooling, fixtures, and templates that are optimized for manufacturability, quality, and cost Source materials, components, and manufacturing services from qualified suppliers Implement new products into production, including process development, equipment qualification, and operator training Engineering & Problem Solving Apply first principles engineering thinking to solve complex manufacturing challenges Analyze and optimize manufacturing processes for efficiency, quality, and safety Develop innovative solutions for tooling, fixturing, and assembly methods Create and maintain technical documentation including specifications, work instructions, and engineering drawings Hands-On Manufacturing Utilize basic hand tools, additive solutions, and design tools to build prototypes, troubleshoot issues, and validate processes Understand equipment operation, maintenance requirements, and manufacturing capabilities Work directly on the production floor to implement changes and support manufacturing operations Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for quality or production issues Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner closely with Quality Engineering to establish inspection criteria, resolve non-conformances, and drive continuous improvement Work with Operations teams to optimize production flow, reduce downtime, and improve throughput Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment used in automotive production Demonstrated ability to apply engineering fundamentals and first principles thinking to solve problems Proficiency with basic hand tools and mechanical aptitude for understanding how things are made Experience with rapid prototyping techniques and iterative design processes Knowledge of tooling design, fixture development, and template creation Ability to read and create engineering drawings and technical specifications Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities Preferred Qualifications Experience in automotive manufacturing or related production environment Competent with CAD software, SolidWorks preferred.
