Our client is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join a highly respected plaintiff-side litigation firm specializing in asbestos and toxic tort cases.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can independently manage multiple cases from inception through trial. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting attorneys, coordinating litigation activities, and delivering exceptional client service throughout the legal process.
Responsibilities
- Manage and organize case files from client intake through final resolution.
- Request, review, organize, and summarize medical, pathology, radiology, employment, military, and Social Security records.
- Coordinate with medical providers, expert witnesses, and consulting physicians to obtain records, declarations, and supporting documentation.
- Prepare deposition notices and coordinate court reporters, videographers, and deposition logistics.
- Draft pleadings, motions, notices, declarations, discovery responses, subpoenas, and other litigation documents.
- Track court deadlines, discovery deadlines, hearings, and trial dates while maintaining attorney calendars.
- Review defense requests for records and prepare objections when appropriate.
- Communicate regularly with clients, opposing counsel, medical providers, and referring attorneys.
- Provide attorneys with timely case status updates and maintain consistent communication with clients.
- Assist with all aspects of trial preparation, including exhibit organization, witness coordination, court filings, and trial logistics.
- Coordinate autopsy requests when necessary.
- Perform additional litigation support and case management duties as assigned.
- Paralegal certification from an ABA-approved program, an accredited paralegal program, or an equivalent combination of education and qualifying legal experience.
- 3 years of litigation paralegal experience preferred.
- Plaintiff personal injury litigation experience strongly preferred.
- Asbestos plaintiff litigation experience highly preferred.
- Experience reviewing medical records and familiarity with medical terminology preferred.
- Strong drafting skills for pleadings, motions, discovery, and legal correspondence.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting strict court deadlines.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Experience with litigation software such as Summation is a plus.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys and legal support staff.
