- Assist with the preparation and maintenance of financial records, including general ledgers, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations.
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate documentation of all transactions in accordance with record-keeping policies.
- Support month-end and year-end close-out processes.
- Prepare and submit journal entries with proper documentation and approval.
- Review and verify the accuracy of invoices, purchase orders, and other accounting documents.
- Assist in preparing reports for internal and external stakeholders, including financial statements and audits.
- Respond to inquiries from departments, vendors, and the public regarding financial matters.
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with applicable statutes, policies, and financial regulations.
- Support audit preparations by providing requested documentation and reports.
- Possess a keen attention to detail and exhibit a high level of professionalism.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles (GAAP preferred)
- Familiarity with fund accounting or governmental accounting systems
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage time efficiently and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Good interpersonal skills and the desire to work in a team environment.
- Accurate keyboarding and data entry skills.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time while concentrating on repetitious or complex tasks.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to work in a typical office environment; may require extended hours during audits or fiscal year close outs.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
- 1-2 years of experience in accounting; governmental accounting experience is a plus.
- $10,000 Annual Insurance Allotment used to purchase health, life and miscellaneous other insurance products offered by the employer
- 12 paid vacation days and 12 paid sick days each year of employment after probation ends
- 12-14 PAID holidays per year
- A percentage (currently 13.63%, subject to change each July) of your Gross salary is allotted to a State Retirement Plan (FRS) for you. The employer pays this percentage, and you contribute 3%.,
