Job Summary
The Electrical Estimator will prepare bids and written proposals based on specifications provided by customers or Business Development Managers. This role requires strong multi-tasking skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with industrial and data-center electrical systems, including three-phase power, UPS/battery systems, busway distribution, and high-density layouts.
Job Responsibilities: Assist in the bids and proposals process to estimate costs and prepare detailed written proposals and compliance matrices. Review project specifications and drawings, build clarifications and exceptions, and call out discrepancies. Determine material quantities and labor required for total job cost using internal data and supplier/subcontractor quotes. Maintain accurate material costs with Purchasing and labor costs with Human Resources. Support Business Development Managers by following up on previous quotations. Read and interpret one-line wiring diagrams to determine equipment needs. Demonstrate familiarity with data-center redundancy strategies (N/N 1/2N), UPS/battery systems, industrial electrical equipment (MCCs, switchgear, transformers, VFDs), and safety considerations. Perform other tasks as assigned by the Bids and Proposals Manager and Lead Estimator.
Qualifications: One-year certificate or associate degree (or equivalent experience). 2 years of estimating experience. Intermediate knowledge of construction and electrical systems. Excellent written and organizational skills. Ability to multi-task and maintain professionalism with confidential information. Familiarity with industrial, utility, or data-center electrical systems preferred.,
