Overview
We are seeking an experienced Director of Architecture to lead and grow a high-performing architectural department. This role is responsible for team leadership, project success, financial performance, and client satisfaction, while also contributing to business development and overall office leadership.
Schedule & Flexibility
Flexible work schedule: option for 4x10s or 5x8s
Ability to adjust schedule week-to-week with communication
Compensation & Benefits
Medical: Company pays 90% of employee premiums and 60% of family coverage

2 weeks PTO (flexible based on experience)

Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and manage Project Managers, Project Architects, and project teams
Own project success, including contracts, schedules, budgets, and execution
Oversee financial performance of all department projects
Support and lead business development and client acquisition efforts
Review and approve client contracts
Ensure projects align with company standards, policies, and quality expectations
Partner with Project Managers to review project financials on a monthly basis
Ensure consistent client communication and high satisfaction levels
Drive training, mentorship, and professional development across the department
Maintain proper quality control standards across all projects
Provide leadership support without stepping into day-to-day Project Manager duties
Qualifications
Degree from an NCARB-accredited architecture program
12 years of architectural experience (15 preferred)
Active Kentucky Architect License (required)
LEED Accreditation preferred
Experience with Deltek CRM is a plus
Core Competencies
Strong leadership and department management experience
Proven ability to manage budgets and project financials
Excellent planning, organization, and problem-solving skills
Effective communication (written and verbal) across teams and clients
Commitment to quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement
Ability to coach, mentor, and develop teams
Technical Requirements
Proficient with Windows-based workstations
Comfortable using mobile devices (Apple/Android) and firm applications
Valid Kentucky driver’s license required
