What are the responsibilities and job description for the Digital Navigator - PT position at Craven Community College?
: The Digital Navigator will provide individualized or small group support to students who need assistance obtaining technology services to include affordable home internet services, affordable internet capable devices, and/or coaching in digital skills in order become effective users of technology. This position will also serve as a digital resource for underserved populations both on and off the Colleges campus by providing one-on-one assistance to students or those working with students as instructors/staff.

: Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
Two (2) years experience working with technology or in academic support.
Valid NC Drivers' License.

- Markets and promotes services through on and off campus events, classroom visits, and facilitating targeted workshops
- Assesses the need for technology assistance and markets services across the New Bern and Havelock campuses
- Works with department heads and marketing to promote services to underserved populations
- Determines digital needs through intake assessment of individual students, whether on or off campus
- Advises students about free or affordable home internet service options for which they may qualify, assists with applying for those services if needed, and supports efforts to secure services
- Advises students about sources of affordable computers or other Internet connected devices for which they may qualify and supports efforts to acquire appropriate devices and resources
- Tracks, records, and reports loaned technology equipment and devices to students
- Tracks each students progress and types of requests, keeps accurate and timely records, and reports outcomes as required
- Maintains a database of digital resources as well as seeks new opportunities through grant development
- Makes direct contact with distance education students ensuring they have the resources they need to be successful
- Delivers programming developed for students enrolled in developmental education and online courses
- Works with students and the Academic Support staff to develop a tutoring and support plan that meets students needs
- Responds to early alerts for students in assigned caseload and makes appropriate follow-up recommendations
- Monitors student participation in support services and collects student outcome information
- Communicates with instructors to obtain progress reports on students
- Collaborates with various areas within and outside the Academic Support Center to facilitate student success, retention, and persistence
- Performs other job-related duties and projects as assigned in support of the Colleges mission, core values and goals

- Computer software, programs and databases including but not limited to Google Office Suite, Adobe Pro, Webex, and Zoom
- Principles, procedures and practices of data collection and analysis and record control
- Intermediate knowledge of clerical processes and procedures and standard office procedures, practices and equipment
- Intermediate knowledge of report preparation
- Advanced computer skills and technical proficiency in Moodle, or other LMS, Microsoft Office applications, elearning tools, multimedia tools and video/audio editing
- Effective verbal, listening and written communications skills
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Highly effective planning, coordination and organizational skills to meet work deadlines
- Interpersonal skills with proven ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to compile, organize, prepare and maintain an assortment of records, reports, and related information
