We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Lead Pre-Construction professional to guide our estimating and bid preparation efforts on mid-sized projects valued between $1M–$8M. This role is ideal for an experienced preconstruction leader who thrives on balancing technical detail with strategic insight. The Lead Pre-Construction will oversee estimating processes, mentor junior staff, coordinate cross-functional collaboration, and ensure high-quality proposals that align with client needs and company objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the pre-construction process for projects in the $1M–$8M range, including conceptual estimating, detailed take-offs, cost analysis, and budgeting.
- Manage and oversee estimating teams; assign tasks, review work, and ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Develop and recommend go/no-go strategies for pursuits, balancing resource allocation with opportunity potential.
- Collaborate with project managers, business development, and operations to align scope, budget, and schedule.
- Engage with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to build strong working relationships and ensure competitive, accurate pricing.
- Prepare detailed proposals and presentations for leadership review and client submission.
- Mentor and develop junior preconstruction staff, sharing best practices and ensuring adherence to company standards.
- Support continuous improvement of estimating tools, databases, and preconstruction processes.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil/Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred.
- 5–10 years of experience in preconstruction, estimating, or project development within the construction industry.
- Proven ability to successfully manage projects in the $1M–$8M range.
- Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience with a track record of team development.
- Strong technical knowledge of construction means and methods, cost drivers, and market pricing.
- Proficiency with estimating software, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
