What are the responsibilities and job description for the CRM Operations position at CPAC — Future of Freedom?
Ideal For
A systems thinker who wants to build the structure other people work inside, rather than working inside someone else's.
The CRM Operations Intern builds and maintains the structure of the organization's constituent database — the workflows, tags, and reports other departments work inside. This role teaches system design, not just data entry.
Core Duties
- Build and maintain automated workflows, triggers, and record processes.
- Design and maintain the tagging and coding architecture, keeping it consistent and documented.
- Build reports and dashboards to requirements gathered from other departments.
- Test system changes in a controlled way before deploying them.
- Document configuration, logic, and changes so the system is understandable to successors.
- Manage user permissions and access levels per policy.
- Troubleshoot user-reported issues and train staff on correct usage.
- Support integrations between the CRM and other platforms.
Role-Specific Qualifications
- Systems thinking and logical process design ability.
- Experience with a CRM, database, or automation platform is a strong plus.
- Documentation discipline — undocumented configuration is a liability.
- Ability to gather requirements from non-technical colleagues.
Standard Qualifications — All Internships
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university; eligible for the Federal Work Study Program where applicable.
- Senior in high school, recent high school graduate, or GED equivalent.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and general computer literacy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional demeanor.
- Discretion with confidential and pre-release information; adherence to all organizational policies, including confidentiality, data handling, and workplace safety standards.
- Prior office or customer service experience is a plus but not required.
Internship: minimum 16 hours per week, in person, Alexandria, VA. You are allowed to work up to 40 hours a week with limited overtime opportunities.
Every intern completes the program's five core competencies and attends the annual conference. Expect a written midpoint review, weekly one-on-one supervision, and a documented portfolio of completed work.
