Rates Analyst

Job Description

Cozen O’Connor is seeking a Rates Analyst to join our Finance team. This role is critical in overseeing the firm’s billing rate structures and ensuring compliance with client

agreements. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in legal billing systems, a strong command of rate agreements, and the ability to lead initiatives that support the firm’s financial goals and client service excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead the maintenance of client-specific billing rates and alternative fee arrangements (AFAs) in the firm’s financial systems (e.g., Aderant)
• Serve as a subject matter expert and primary point of contact for rate-related inquiries from attorneys, billing staff, and firm leadership
• Monitor compliance with client billing guidelines and contractual terms, proactively identifying and resolving discrepancies
• Support internal and external audits related to billing rates and fee arrangements
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior team members on rate management best practices and system usage
• Collaborate with IT and Finance teams to enhance rate-related reporting and automation
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field required
• 5 years of experience in billing, pricing, or financial analysis, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment
• Experience with Aderant strongly preferred
• Expert-level Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, Power Query, etc.); experience with data visualization tools is a plus
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and lead initiatives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Experience with client eBilling platforms and LEDES formats is a plus
• Working knowledge of SQL or other data analysis tools a plus
  
  

The salary range for this role is $75,000 -$85,000 and represents the Firm’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications and location.
