Responsibilities
- Assist in menu planning and meal preparation to ensure timely delivery of high-quality dishes
- Prepare ingredients through chopping, slicing, and other food handling techniques with precision and safety
- Cook and assemble menu items according to established recipes and standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, adhering to food safety regulations
- Handle food with care, following proper sanitation procedures to prevent cross-contamination
- Support catering events by preparing large quantities of food as needed
- Manage food inventory and communicate supply needs to ensure smooth kitchen operations
- Follow all safety protocols related to knife skills, cooking techniques, and equipment use
Experience
- Previous experience in a dietary department or as a dietary aide is preferred
- Experience in restaurant or food service environments demonstrating proficiency in food preparation and cooking
- Knowledge of menu planning, meal preparation, and food safety standards is highly desirable
- Familiarity with culinary techniques, including knife skills and food handling practices
- Background in catering or serving roles will be considered an asset
- Prior kitchen experience within the food industry or culinary settings will support success in this role
