LPN Charge Nurse Part Time

- The LPN Charge Nurse is responsible for the well-being and nursing care of all residents assigned to him or her during the shift.
- Reporting to the Supervisor, he or she provides nursing services following the resident’s treatment plan or physician’s directions, assesses residents and responds to and reports any changes in condition, distributes and charts medications, distributes narcotics and manages the narcotic inventory, supervises the staff of Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA), and responds to emergencies.
- The ideal candidate has graduated from an accredited LPN program, holds a current unencumbered license as a Licensed Practical Nurse in this state, has two years of experience in the elder care or long-term care field, and has some management or supervisory experience.
- Fluent English speaking and writing skills, empathy and the ability to listen, good time management skills, and professional dress, speech, and behavior are all required for this position.
- Current, unencumbered state license as a Licensed Practical Nurse
- Two years of progressive nursing experience, preferably in a long-term care setting
- Knowledge of state and local regulations regarding long term care
- Able to use an EKG and Accu-Chek machines
- Current CPR certification
- An up-beat and engaging personality
- Communication and interpersonal skills to develop relationships with residents, families, staff, and providers
- Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and walk as needed for this job

Education and Experience:
Requires graduation from an approved school of nursing with current license to practice as an LPN in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Job Specifications:
Must have good assessment, communication, clinical and interpersonal skills. Must be able to supervise and direct staff. Must be able to communicate in English.
Physical Requirements:
Work requires standing and walking for all or most of the day. Sitting, reaching, handling items, and feeling are required. Stooping, kneeling and crouching are required frequently. Must be able to lift and carry an average of ten pounds and pull weight of up to twenty-five pounds. Intact sense of sight, hearing, touch and smell are required. May be responsible for assembling and dismantling medical equipment. Finger dexterity needed.
