The Courtyard by Marriott Kansas City at Briarcliff is now accepting applications for a Bistro Cook – AM Shift. Our Bistro is a chic, fast-casual concept offering an eclectic menu featuring fresh to-go options, full sit-down fare, and beverages including cocktails, wine, beer, and Starbucks® coffee.
Our hotel features 123 guest rooms, a Bistro, event space, fitness center, pool, and a wide range of guest amenities. The variety of services we offer often leads to promotion from within, both within the property and across the Marriott brand.
Schedule
- Weekdays: 5:30 AM – 12:00 PM
- Weekends: 6:30 AM – 1:00 PM
Job Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and proper storage
- Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklists
- Maintain food cost awareness and portion control without sacrificing quality
- Assist with food quality, presentation, cleanliness, and organization of the kitchen and restaurant
- Accommodate guest special requests
- Follow all food handling, sanitation, and safety guidelines
- Assist with inventory, ordering, and receiving of food and beverage items as directed
- Maintain and enforce sanitation laws and safety standards for anyone entering the kitchen
- Foster a positive and respectful work environment
- Adhere to departmental grooming and dress standards
- Carry out hotel emergency procedures as required
- Perform additional duties as assigned

Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing and use of hands for handling tools and equipment
- Regular reaching with hands and arms
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Noise level is typically quiet to moderate
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent work experience)
- Working knowledge of the English language
- Previous guest/customer service experience preferred
- TIPS, CARE (or equivalent) certification required or willingness to obtain
- Ability to input and retrieve information using computers, POS systems, and property management systems
Compensation & Benefits
- Rate: $16.00 per hour

Requirements
- Food preparation, ability to follow recipes, adhere to all food safety guidelines and excellent customer service skills
- Operate equipment such as, but not limited to, oven, grill, stove, dishwasher, and utensils
- Have or ability to obtain a KCMO Food Handler License within 30 days of hire
