Description
The Bistro Cook reports directly to the Assistant General Manager and is responsible for the following:
- Prepare ingredients for cooking, including; portioning, chopping, and storing food.
- Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklist for hotel restaurant and catered functions
- Understands food cost and portion control without sacrificing quality
- Assists with food quality and presentation maintains cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and restaurant
- Accommodates Guests’ special requests
- Always adheres to proper food handling and safety guidelines
- Assists with inventory, ordering, and receiving of all Food and Beverage items as directed
- Maintains and enforces sanitation laws and safety standards with anyone entering the kitchen area
- Maintains a positive work atmosphere
- Adheres to proper grooming and dress codes for the department
- Carries out hotel emergency procedures
- Performs all other duties as directed, developed, or assigned
- Must be able to understand the proper use of kitchen equipment and verbal instructions
Special Requirements
- Prompt and regular attendance - the hotel operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day
- Department schedules must accommodate fluctuating business demands and associates may be asked to work shifts other than those they prefer or normally work, and overtime as required
- Minimum availability of 16 hours per week for part-time employees
- Comply with hotel and/or department uniform and professional behavior and appearance standards
- Carry out all reasonable requests by team leaders and managers and act as a team player with all levels of staff
- Review and approve electronic timecard weekly to ensure accuracy

Requirements
- Food preparation, ability to follow recipes, adhere to all food safety guidelines and excellent customer service skills
- Operate equipment such as, but not limited to, oven, grill, stove, dishwasher, and utensils
- Have or ability to obtain a KCMO Food Handler License within 30 days of hire
Must be willing to complete drug screen and background check in accordance with federal and state laws
