The Nevada County Assessor’s Office is seeking a detail-oriented and curious professional who enjoys solving problems, working with data, and supporting their community. This entry-level opportunity is ideal for individuals looking to begin or grow a career in public service, property assessment, or real estate-related fields. This position is based in the office and follows standard County business hours.
In this role, you will work closely with experienced appraisers and staff to support property valuation and assessment activities that directly impact our local community. You’ll gain hands-on experience, build valuable technical skills, and develop a strong foundation in appraisal practices.
What You’ll Do:
- Support appraisers in reviewing and processing property valuation data
- Analyze property records, including deeds, maps, and related documents
- Assist in reviewing business property statements and cost data
- Help maintain accurate property records using a variety of source materials
- Provide helpful and professional assistance to the public
This position plays an important role in ensuring fair and accurate property assessments. You’ll contribute to meaningful work that helps fund essential County services.
Who We’re Looking For:
We welcome candidates from a variety of backgrounds who bring strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a willingness to learn. You may be a great fit if you have:

An associate degree from an accredited college of university. Major coursework in accounting, business, public administration, economics, real estate, or a closely related field is preferred.
OR - Two years of increasingly responsible experience as appraisal support involved with property assessment or property valuation.
Familiarity with property records, legal documents, or valuation concepts is highly desired.
