Job Description
General Statement of Duties
Provides assistance to Summer Day Camp Supervisors and participants.
Distinguishing Features of the Class
An employee in this position provides assistance to the Summer Day Camp Supervisor and oversees/assists participants with activities. Work is performed under the immediate supervision of Summer Day Camp Supervisor and the Recreation Program Manager.
Illustrative Example of Work
Provides assistance to the Summer Day Camp Supervisors and participants. Assists with participant registration
Assists with ensuring each child signs in each morning, signs out each afternoon and is picked up by the proper person.
Monitors the day camp participants, the environment and their safety Ensures the facilities are as safe as possible and that equipment is being used properly.
Notifies Summer Day Camp Supervisor of any issues or problems. Works with other staff members in planning the next day's activities. Assists in cleaning and closing the facility at the end of the day.
Adheres to the department's safety rules and regulations. Other duties as assigned.

Ability to assist with maintaining effective discipline.
Ability and desire to work with children in a recreational setting. Ability to lead groups in various activities.
Ability to work well with other staff and the general public. Ability to work scheduled hours.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational support functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing for long periods, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
Must be able to perform light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Worker is required to have close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures.
Must be able to work in environmental conditions that require both inside and outside work with no effective protection of weather.
Must be able to work in conditions that are subject to contact with potentially infectious bodily fluids.
Education and Experience
Must be 16 years of age or older.
Must successfully complete Davidson County's New Hire Orientation on first day of employment.
Licenses and Certifications
Birth Certificate if under age 18.
