What are the responsibilities and job description for the Leisure Activity Specialist - Baum Center position at County of Dare?
Performs intermediate human support work. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Community Center Manager.General knowledge of the social and economic characteristics of senior citizens in the community; general knowledge of the recreational and cultural resources and facilities needed for the delivery of programs and services to the aged; ability to plan and supervise the work of volunteers; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with community officials and the general public; ability to prepare technical and financial reports; ability to prepare and maintain records.
Associates/Technical degree in Recreation & Leisure, or related field and moderate experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
AED/CPR Training
Valid driver's license in the State of North Carolina.
- Supervises volunteers providing services to elderly clients, as well as people with disabilities.
- Coordinates activities, events, tournaments, games, workshops etc. for all ages and abilities.
- Coordinates with other human services agencies to facilitate connecting seniors and disabled clients and services.
- Designs and distributes advertisements and information on programs and activities via hard copy and via the web.
- Oversees the home delivered meals program for Dare County in conjunction with the Albemarle Commission.
- Represents the community center as the designated safety office and a Dare County Safety Committee member.
- Supervises and coordinates building and facility maintenance repairs as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Community Center Manager.
