What are the responsibilities and job description for the Leisure Activity Specialist - Fessenden Center position at County of Dare?
Performs semi-skilled work creating and planning activities, outings, and events in various settings. Manages and supervises County programs for adults or youth. Responsible for creating programs, staffing events and supervising the implementation of activities. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Leisure Programs Supervisor.
- Oversees volunteers providing services to the general public.
- Coordinates activities, events, tournaments, games, etc. for all ages and abilities.
- Coordinates with other human services agencies to facilitate connecting seniors and disabled clients and services, if applicable.
- Obtain certifications and training needed to provide SHIIP services, if applicable.
- Manages and oversees County team youth and adult sport programs and activities.
- Assigns officials and umpires and/or volunteers for county events and programs.
- Assists with special events and programs.
- Performs other assigned duties.
- General knowledge of the social and economic characteristics of senior citizens in the community.
- General knowledge of the recreational and cultural resources and facilities needed for the delivery of programs and services to the general public.
- Ability to plan and supervise the work of volunteers.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with community officials and the public.
- Ability to prepare technical and financial reports; ability to prepare and maintain records.
- Knowledge of Dare County operations, policies, and procedures.
- Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
- Skill in the use of computers and software applications related to the essential functions of the job.
- Skill in effective communication, both verbally and in writing.
- Skill in the use of various types of office equipment (e.g., copier, fax, document scanner, multi-line telephone system, etc.).
- Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- High school diploma or equivalent or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
