What are the responsibilities and job description for the Leisure Activity Specialist position at County of Dare?
Performs semiskilled work managing and supervising County team sports programs for adults and youth, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Leisure Programs Supervisor.
- Supervises volunteers providing services to elderly clients, as well as people with disabilities.
- Coordinates activities, events, tournaments, games, workshops etc. for all ages and abilities.
- Designs and distributes advertisements and information on programs and activities via hard copy and via the web.
- Manages and supervises County team sports programs.
- Assigns officials and umpires for games.
- Assists with special events and programs.
- Performs other assigned duties.
- General knowledge of the recreational and cultural resources and facilities needed for the delivery of programs and services to the aged.
- Ability to plan and supervise the work of volunteers.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with community officials and the public.
- Ability to prepare technical and financial reports; ability to prepare and maintain records.
- Knowledge of Dare County operations, policies, and procedures.
- Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
- Skill in the use of computers and software applications related to the essential functions of the job.
- Skill in effective communication, both verbally and in writing.
- Skill in the use of various types of office equipment (e.g., copier, fax, document scanner, multi-line telephone system, etc.).
- Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- High school diploma or equivalent or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
- Valid driver’s license
