OPENING FOR COURT-APPOINTED/CONFLICT COUNSEL (CRIMINAL):
The Court of Common Pleas of Chester County is now accepting applications for the contract position of Court-Appointed/Conflict Counsel. Conflict Counsel will provide legal services to indigent criminal defendants whom the Public Defender, due to an ethical conflict of interest, cannot represent. In this particular position, Conflict Counsel will represent defendants at preliminary hearings in the several magisterial district courts throughout Chester County. Conflict Counsel in this position may also be appointed to represent a defendant in the court of common pleas if the number of co-defendants requiring representation exceeds the number of trial conflict counsel. Conflict Counsel must be a member in good standing of the Pennsylvania Bar, have prior litigation experience, and be versed in both substantive criminal law and the Pennsylvania Rules of Criminal Procedure.
