- POSITION SUMMARY**:
- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Supervises and directs staff.
- Directs Consumer Investigators in the performance of consumer complaint handling.
- Directs Deputy Sealers to perform inspections of all types of weighing, measuring and timing devices and commodities following correct tolerance procedures are required by law (Act 368, PA Title 70, NIST Handbooks 44, 130, 133, etc.).
- Maintains good working relationships with state, county and federal agencies.
- Interacts with the public and media. Prepares and distributes educational materials for media on department-related subjects. Presents public speeches on department topics.
- Submits monthly inspection reports to Pennsylvania Office, Bureau of Standards Weights and Measures.
- Files citations for violations of weights and measures laws and appears at court hearings on behalf of County.
- Responsible for annual certification and maintenance of all departments' field-testing equipment as prescribed by law.
- Prepares department budget and supervises fiscal activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- High school graduate or equivalent. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Possess above average managerial, verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret government laws.
- Working knowledge of consumer laws and regulations; weights and measures laws and regulations; and Pennsylvania Unfair Trade Practices Laws preferred.
- Possess good computer skills.
