JOB REQUIREMENTS: Performs difficult and responsible secretarial duties
for a department head and/or his/her immediate subordinate staff calling
for individual judgment, initiative, and applying specialized knowledge
in performing duties regarding established procedures, laws and
regulations; does related work as required. Essential Duties Applies the
specialized knowledge of the department in which employed. Refers
telephone calls and answers various inquiries personally, providing
information on departmental services and functions. Independently
prepares correspondence for department head. Types comprehensive
material from rough draft copy or from dictating equipment. Maintains
the court calendar, including the entry of court dates and cancellations
for assigned officers. Performs follow-up activities such as checking
and reviewing a variety of data and reports. Maintains the
confidentiality of the departmental practices, as applicable. Assists
unit members with investigative phone follow-up for criminal
investigations. Sorts, distributes, and sends the mail for the
department. Maintains office records and investigative files. Maintains
inventory of office supplies and places orders as necessary. Enters and
maintains information into Wisconsin Department of Justice ACISS case
management database. Conducts criminal histories through Transactional
Information Management Enforcement (T.I.M.E.) system. Maintains T.I.M.E.
certification. Assists unit Director in compiling various reports,
presentations and statistics required for budget, grant or performance
reporting. Uses computerized analytical tools to create charts,
timelines and link diagrams for the purpose of demonstrating analytical
findings, including target relationships, time sequence of events, and
criminal hierarchies. NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Posts information. Copying,
scanning, and faxing of reports. Performs related functions as assigned.

simple bookkeeping practices. Knowledge of and ability to utilize a

especially Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook, and
ACISS Case Management System. Ability to follow fairly complex oral and
written instructions. Ability to learn and apply the specialized
knowledge and skills of the department in which employed. Ability to
communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to operate
standard office equipment. Ability to type at a minimum of 60 net wpm.
Ability to maintain confidential office records and prepare accurate and
timely reports. Ability to accept responsibility and to exercise
independent judgment. Ability to prepare effective correspondence on
routine matters and to perform routine office management details
independently. Ability to complete tasks on time despite numerous
