What are the responsibilities and job description for the Jail Deputy Eligibility List position at County of Adams?
Performs intermediate protective service work maintaining safety and security in the County Jail, managing the transportation of inmates, administering and discharging inmates, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Jail Administrator/Captain.
TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION: Applicants must complete a DJ-LE-330 application.
- Maintains safety and security throughout the entire jail facility.
- Manages the transportation of inmates in emergency and non-emergency situations.
- Admits and discharges all inmates accurately.
- Controls all access points to the jail and maintains facility keys.
- Performs general housekeeping and sanitation requirements.
- Stores and distributes all prescription and non-prescription drugs as directed by the Jail Nurse.
- Conducts inmate counts, as well as performs safety and inmate welfare checks.
Performs other related functions and duties as assigned or required.
High school diploma or GED and minimal experience in corrections, law enforcement, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Associates/Technical degree preferred. Possession of Wisconsin Motor Vehicle Operation license upon hire. Obtain Jailer certification within 1 year of hire. Obtain Automated External Defibrillator, first aid, mental health and suicide prevention, intoxameter, Taser, defense spray, and self-contained breathing apparatus training within 1 year of hire. Valid driver's license in the State of Wisconsin.
Thorough knowledge of County and department policies and procedures to include emergency and inclement weather policies; ability to prioritize and manage multiple, concurrent projects; attention to detail and ability to effectively organize time and anticipate, plan and successfully respond to changing circumstances; thorough knowledge of jail facility safety and security policies and procedures; ability to safely and securely moves inmates in emergency and non-emergency situations; thorough knowledge of the distribution of all prescription and non-prescription drugs as directed by the Jail Nurse; ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals; ability to operate and use standard office equipment; knowledge and ability to use standard office and position-specific software; ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, other departments and the general public.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
