County Corp is a private, non-profit affordable housing provider for the residents of the Greater Miami Valley region. Our mission is to provide affordable housing and economic opportunities. While we are a relatively small organization, we are mighty in the positive impact we have on the clients and communities we serve. We co-locate with the Montgomery County Land Bank and the Homeownership Center of Greater Dayton.

In addition to providing housing, home repair, new construction, and rehab services to our clients, we also manage a U.S. Department of Labor Grant called YouthBuild. YouthBuild is a college and career preparation program that focuses on opportunity youth ages 17 - 22. Utilizing classroom and hands-on experience, eligible youth are provided opportunities to enter career pathways such as construction, manufacturing, and healthcare.

We are looking for a Family Advocate.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

· Ensure the identification of potential barriers for participants, construct corrective action plans for the youth and coordinate the delivery of any required supports.

· Maintain a positive relationship with Legal Aid, the Montgomery County Office of Ex-Offender Re-Entry, and Montgomery County Juvenile Court to assist participants in navigating legal and court related issues.

· Provide a supportive and optimistic program climate for participants to feel empowered when seeking assistance and/or support services.

· Maintain positive relationships with community partners who deliver support services including those partners who provide mental health, housing, food, medical and dental services to name a few.

· Provide leadership, oversight and mentoring to the Peer Leadership Committee (a group of 5-7 YouthBuild participants who are selected by their peers) so as to help guide the direction, growth, and impact of the program and – as servant leaders – to the local community.

· Maintain detailed case notes and tracking systems that monitor participant access and benefits from supportive services as well as provide routine summative reports.

· Help eligible students pursue public assistance such as food stamps, childcare, health insurance, replacing essential personal identification documents such as birth certificates, photo ID and Social Security Cards.

· Continue to grow the community partnerships that support YouthBuild and the services we provide to participants.

· Assist in the recruitment of qualified individuals who may be interested in joining YouthBuild.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

· Commitment to the YouthBuild mission, vision, and growth

· Passion for improving educational and career opportunities for participants and for building a strong, mission-driven organization

· Exceptional interpersonal, communication and presentation skills

· Effective organizational skills with the ability to perform multiple tasks.

· Strong interpersonal skills.

· Proficient in the use of technology.

· Experience with personalized participant advising and motivation skills.

· Passion for working with, leading, coaching and educating youth of various social, educational, and economic backgrounds.

· Willingness to go “above and beyond” to support participants in achieving progress in all areas.

· Commitment to continued personal and professional growth

· Minimum - Associate Degree.

· Preferred - Experience working in a not for profit setting

· Preferred – Experience working with federal grants

· Valid Driver’s License Required
