Position Summary
The Security Director is responsible for overseeing all security operations, life safety programs, emergency preparedness initiatives, risk management activities, and public safety coordination for Country Club Plaza. This leadership role is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive security strategies that support a safe, welcoming, and customer-focused environment for tenants, guests, employees, vendors, and visitors.
The Security Director provides leadership for all on-site security personnel, third-party security vendors, emergency response protocols, incident management procedures, and property-wide safety initiatives. This position partners closely with property management, facilities, operations, marketing, tenant representatives, local law enforcement agencies, emergency responders, and municipal stakeholders to maintain a secure and well-coordinated operating environment.
This role requires strong leadership, operational judgment, communication skills, crisis management experience, and the ability to proactively manage complex public environments within a high-profile mixed-use destination. The ideal candidate possesses significant experience in commercial property security, public safety operations, emergency preparedness, and team leadership within large-scale retail, hospitality, mixed-use, or urban environments.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive property-wide security and life safety programs
- Oversee all daily security operations across Country Club Plaza
- Manage and direct third-party security vendors and on-site security personnel
- Establish operational standards, post orders, patrol procedures, and reporting protocols
- Lead emergency preparedness planning and incident response coordination
- Develop and maintain emergency action plans, evacuation procedures, and crisis communication protocols
- Coordinate closely with local law enforcement, fire departments, emergency medical services, and municipal agencies
- Monitor property security systems including cameras, access control systems, alarms, and communication platforms
- Conduct security risk assessments and identify operational vulnerabilities
- Investigate incidents, security concerns, property damage, and operational disruptions
- Prepare detailed incident reports and operational summaries
- Support tenant security coordination and respond to tenant safety concerns
- Oversee crowd management and public safety planning for special events and activations
- Partner with Facilities and Operations teams on safety initiatives and operational coordination
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations, company policies, and operational procedures
- Develop security budgets and manage vendor contracts and operational expenditures
- Conduct ongoing security training, drills, and team development initiatives
- Support executive leadership with operational reporting and strategic planning recommendations
- Promote a visible and customer-service-oriented security presence throughout the property
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Business Administration, Emergency Management, or related field preferred
- Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible security, law enforcement, military, or public safety experience required
- Minimum 5 years of leadership or supervisory experience required
- Experience managing security operations for commercial real estate, retail, hospitality, mixed-use, entertainment, or urban environments preferred
- Strong understanding of emergency response procedures, incident management, and public safety operations
- Experience coordinating with law enforcement and public agencies preferred
- Experience managing third-party security vendors and operational contracts preferred
- Knowledge of access control systems, surveillance technologies, and security software platforms preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and conflict resolution skills required
- Ability to remain calm and make sound operational decisions under pressure
- CPR, First Aid, and emergency response certifications preferred
- Certified Protection Professional designation preferred
