Position Summary:
Kids & Company is seeking a dedicated, organized, and enthusiastic Assistant Site Supervisor to help lead our before- and after-school program. This position plays an important role in creating a safe, engaging, and positive environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive.
As the Assistant Site Supervisor, you'll work alongside the Site Supervisor to oversee daily operations, support staff, and ensure high-quality programming for school-age children. You'll also step into a leadership role whenever the Site Supervisor is away.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the daily operation of the before- and after-school program.
- Support the supervision, coaching, and development of child care staff.
- Help maintain a safe, organized, and engaging environment for children.
- Ensure compliance with licensing requirements, safety standards, and organizational policies.
- Maintain attendance records, incident reports, staff schedules, and other program documentation.
- Communicate professionally with families, school staff, and administrative personnel.
- Monitor program supplies and assist with inventory management.
- Support implementation of health, safety, and emergency procedures.
- Serve as Acting Site Supervisor when the Site Supervisor is absent.
- Perform other duties that support the success of the program.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Current certifications (or ability to obtain upon hire):
- Infant, Child, and Adult CPR
- First Aid
- Iowa Mandatory Child Abuse Reporter Training
- Experience working with children in a child care, school-age, or youth program.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask, solve problems, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Positive attitude and commitment to providing exceptional care for children.
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development, Recreation, or a related field.
- Previous experience in a supervisory role within a licensed child care or school-age program.
- Knowledge of Iowa child care licensing regulations.
Physical Requirements
This position requires an active presence with children throughout the day and the ability to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Participate in indoor and outdoor activities, including playground supervision.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Bend, squat, kneel, and perform fine and gross motor movements as needed.
Schedule
- Flexible hours; including mornings and afternoon into evening depending on program needs
- Monday-Friday, 6:30am-9:00am, Monday, 1:30pm-6:00pm and Tuesday-Friday 3:15pm-6:00pm
Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
