Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling accounts, and supporting various accounting functions. This role offers an opportunity to work with diverse accounting software and contribute to the financial health of our organization, whether in a corporate, non-profit, or governmental setting.
Responsibilities
- Manage and record daily financial transactions using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or Quicken
- Perform general ledger accounting and ensure accuracy of all entries in accordance with GAAP standards
- Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounts
- Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and account analysis to identify discrepancies and resolve issues
- Assist with budgeting, financial report writing, and financial statement preparation
- Support payroll processing and tax-related tasks as needed
- Maintain organized records of all financial documents for audit purposes
- Ensure compliance with governmental accounting regulations and internal policies
Skills
- Proficiency in accounting software
- Strong understanding of GAAP, double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and journal entries
- Experience with bank reconciliation, account reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation
- Knowledge of governmental accounting practices and non-profit or corporate accounting environments
- Ability to interpret financial concepts and perform technical accounting tasks
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills including 10 key typing proficiency
- Effective communication skills for financial report writing and account analysis
- Familiarity with budgeting processes and financial software tools
- Prior experience in public accounting or tax preparation is a plus
