Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable Specialist – Wheeling, IL

We’re an established industrial equipment manufacturer and distributor specializing in components used in production and material-handling operations. Our business combines in-house manufacturing with product distribution to serve customers across a range of industrial markets.
Reporting directly to the Controller, you’ll handle day-to-day accounts payable activities while assisting with accounts receivable, account reconciliations, and month-end procedures. This is a great opportunity for someone with practical accounting experience who enjoys working through discrepancies, managing payment activity, and keeping financial processes on track.
What You’ll Do
- Process vendor invoices from entry through approval, including verifying documentation and completing three-way matches against purchase orders and receiving records.
- Prepare vendor check runs and coordinate ACH and other electronic payments, ensuring transactions are processed accurately and on schedule.
- Record customer payments and maintain up-to-date accounts receivable records.
- Perform monthly liability account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and follow through on outstanding items.
- Pull financial and transaction reports from the ERP system and organize data in Excel for review.
- Process customer deposit refunds and maintain supporting documentation.
- Assist with month-end close, account balancing, and other accounting tasks as needed.
What We’re Looking For
- At least 1 year of full-cycle accounts payable experience.
- Some accounts receivable experience.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Understanding of basic accounting principles.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet payment and reporting deadlines.
