Responsibilities
- Collect and prepare specimens such as blood, urine, or tissue samples following proper procedures and safety guidelines.
- Perform routine laboratory tests accurately and efficiently, adhering to established protocols.
- Maintain precise records of tests performed, results obtained, and any deviations or issues encountered during procedures.
- Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Assist healthcare professionals in diagnostic processes by providing timely and accurate test results.
- Follow infection control policies and safety procedures to protect patients and staff.
- Manage inventory of supplies and notify management when stock levels are low.
- Ensure proper disposal of biohazardous materials in accordance with regulatory standards.
Qualifications
- Certification or licensure as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or equivalent is preferred.
- Prior experience working in a clinical laboratory or healthcare setting is advantageous but not mandatory; training will be provided for qualified candidates.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Good communication skills to accurately document findings and collaborate with medical staff.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety standards, infection control practices, and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and computer systems for data entry and reporting.
