Description

The Director of Human Resources provides strategic leadership and oversight for all human capital programs, policies, and practices across the organization. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving HR strategies that support organizational goals, enhance workforce effectiveness, and ensure regulatory compliance. The Director partners closely with executive leadership and facility management to drive a strong, compliant, and engaged workplace culture.

This position oversees talent acquisition, training and development, employee relations, and the administration of health, welfare, and retirement programs. The Director also evaluates and recommends innovative approaches, policies, and processes to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and impact of the Human Resources function.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide enterprise-wide leadership to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Lead the design, implementation, and administration of human resource programs that support associate engagement, recognition, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and deliver leadership and management training initiatives to strengthen organizational capability and succession readiness.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to leadership and associates across all facilities, ensuring clear communication and consistent application of HR policies, procedures, and employment regulations.
  • Oversee corporate exit interview processes, analyze trends, and present actionable insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Prepare and present HR metrics and reports to executive leadership, with a focus on return on investment and organizational impact.
  • Direct the annual open enrollment process and ongoing benefits strategy, including carrier coordination, associate communications, and education initiatives.
  • Lead resolution of associate relations matters, ensuring fair, consistent, and compliant outcomes.
  • Provide oversight and guidance for the administration of employee health, welfare, and retirement programs across the organization.
  • Other duties may be assigned based on business needs.

Requirements

Education

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field required; SPHR certification preferred. 

Experience

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of progressive experience in a senior-level Human Resources role.
  • Demonstrated expertise in employment law and regulatory compliance at the federal, state, and local levels.
  • Proven experience administering and overseeing employee benefit and retirement programs.

Specific Skills

  • Comprehensive knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking capabilities, with the ability to interpret data and provide strategic insights.
  • Highly detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Advanced skills in mediation, active listening, and conflict resolution, including experience with collective bargaining agreement (CBA) negotiations.

Systems (hardware, software, computer, etc.)

  • Strong systems aptitude, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and HR information systems (HRIS), as well as related databases and software platforms. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Physical Requirements are sedentary work which involves sitting.
  • Possible exertion of 10 pounds or less on occasion. 
  • Analyzes data at close distances. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Duties are performed under physical conditions in which the worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
