We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Analyst to support the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services’ Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) modernization program.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys complex, change-oriented projects and has experience translating healthcare business requirements into test cases, performing manual testing, and supporting defect resolution throughout the software development lifecycle.
Job Title: Quality Assurance Analyst – Advanced
Location: 1628 Browning Road Columbia, SC 29210 - Hybrid (4 days in office, 1 days remote)
Duration: 12 Months Contract (Possible Extension)
Work Authorization: W2 (USC or Green Card holder only)
What You’ll Do
- Translate functional requirements, technical requirements, policy documents, and system designs into detailed test cases and scenarios.
- Develop and execute functional and technical test cases under the direction of test leads and senior testers.
- Perform manual testing, including functional, regression, smoke, usability, and boundary testing.
- Analyze test results, identify technical issues, and assist in determining appropriate solutions.
- Create and maintain traceability between requirements, designs, software components, and test cases.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of requirements traceability matrices.
- Clearly document test results, testing status, and identified defects.
- Participate in defect triage, retesting, resolution, and validation activities.
- Create and maintain quality assurance documentation, reports, and other project deliverables.
- Follow established SCDHHS testing processes, governance standards, and SDLC procedures.
- Collaborate with the SCDHHS Project Management Office and cross-functional project teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical, business, healthcare, or related field is preferred. Relevant professional experience may substitute for formal education.
- At least 2 years of experience translating business requirements or policy documentation into test cases and testing scenarios.
- At least 2 years of experience with manual testing techniques, including functional, regression, smoke, usability, and boundary testing.
- At least 3 years of strong healthcare operations and business-process experience, preferably within Medicaid.
- Experience developing, executing, and documenting detailed test cases.
- Experience clearly communicating testing progress, results, risks, and defects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience working with large enterprise or e-business systems.
- At least 3 years of experience using QA and test-management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, TestRail, or similar platforms.
- At least 3 years of experience working within a standard SDLC environment, including Waterfall and Agile delivery methodologies.
- Previous experience with Medicaid, MMIS modernization, government healthcare programs, or public-sector projects.
- Technical or project management certifications from a recognized organization.
