Good day! We are seeking an experienced Data Protection Security Analyst to support a large public-sector organization's cybersecurity and data protection program.
This position focuses on Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Insider Risk Management, AI/Microsoft Copilot security, security monitoring, vendor risk, auditing, and incident response. You'll investigate security events, protect sensitive information, support compliance initiatives, and partner with technical and business teams to strengthen the organization's overall security posture.
Location: 1201 Main Street Suite 600 Columbia, SC 29201 (Hybrid 3 days onsite, 2 days remote)
Duration: 12 Months Contract (Possible Extension)
Work Authorization: W2 (USC or Green Card holder only)
Candidate Location: Candidates must currently reside in South Carolina. No relocation is available.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and administer Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and Insider Risk Management solutions.
- Investigate data security incidents, suspicious activity, and unauthorized access to sensitive information.
- Review and triage security alerts from DLP, Insider Risk, DSPM, and related security platforms.
- Support AI security initiatives, including Microsoft Copilot and Data Security Posture Management (DSPM).
- Participate in cybersecurity audits, compliance reviews, risk assessments, and vendor security evaluations.
- Document investigations, prepare security reports, and recommend improvements to security controls and data governance practices.
- Collaborate with technical and business teams to strengthen cybersecurity and data protection across the organization.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (equivalent experience may be considered).
- 3–5 years supporting enterprise cybersecurity operations, including threat monitoring, incident response, and risk analysis.
- 3 years of hands-on experience with:
- Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
- Insider Risk Management tools
- Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) for AI
- 3 years reviewing and triaging data-related security alerts, analyzing access to and movement of sensitive information, documenting findings, and escalating incidents.
- 3 years collaborating with technical and non-technical teams to resolve security issues and improve an organization's data security posture.
- Candidates must possess one of the following:
- CompTIA Security
- GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC)
