Legal Billing Specialist
Location Dallas, TX 75201 | Onsite (1 remote day per week after 90 days)
Compensation & Schedule
• $80,000-$85,000 (BOE)
• Monday–Friday; 8:00 AM–5:00 PM or 8:30 AM–5:30 PM
• Full-time, Non-Exempt (W2)

Role Impact
The Billing Clerk supports the full legal billing lifecycle to ensure accurate, timely invoicing and compliance with client billing guidelines. This role partners closely with attorneys, legal assistants, and accounting to manage electronic billing (e-billing), LEDES file submissions, budgeting, and collections follow-up. Success is defined by precise invoice processing, reduced billing exceptions, and strong internal and client communication.
Key Responsibilities
• Coordinate the client billing process for assigned attorneys; compile and review attorney and paralegal billed hours according to client billing cycles.
• Edit pre-bills and time entry narratives; process write-downs, write-offs, transfers, split bills, and apply advance or trust funds.
• Prepare, review, and upload case budgets to e-billing systems; ensure compliance with client billing guidelines, rates, and cost controls.
• Submit electronic invoices using LEDES (Legal Electronic Data Exchange Standard) formats via e-billing platforms; manage billing exceptions, appeals, and submission deadlines.
• Research and resolve billing inquiries; track outstanding invoices and assist with collections; support accounting functions including accounts payable, reporting, scanning, and filing.
Minimum Qualifications
• 2 years of billing experience in a professional services firm; legal billing experience with LEDES formatting required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; ability to perform accurate data entry in a high-volume environment.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
Core Tools & Systems
• Elite 3E (strongly preferred) or Aderant legal billing software
• E-billing platforms such as Bottomline/LegalX, Collaborati, Wolters Kluwer Passport, Legal Tracker, CounselLink, TyMetrix360; Ebilling Hub preferred
• Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Document management systems such as iManage
• Standard office equipment including scanners, copiers, and multi-line phone systems
Preferred Skills
• Experience with electronic billing submissions, budgeting, and appeals management.
• Familiarity with litigation billing workflows and client-specific billing guidelines.

Work is performed in an office environment with routine safety precautions. This role requires frequent sitting and computer use, with occasional walking, standing, bending, and lifting up to 10 pounds. Occasional remote work is permitted after 90 days, subject to business needs.
