Job Title: Payroll Tax Analyst
Location: Houston, TX (Woodlands area)
CornerStone Professional Placement is seeking a Payroll Tax Analyst for an opportunity with a growing organization in the Houston area. This role will support a high-performing tax team and work closely with internal departments and clients to ensure accurate and timely payroll tax operations.
* Ensure timely and accurate processing of daily, quarterly, and annual payroll tax filings
* Manage tax setup by gathering and validating required account information, rates, and documentation
* Research and resolve tax notices and discrepancies, including direct interaction with tax agencies
* Maintain and reconcile quarterly filings (941s) and payroll tax data across systems
* Track and manage service, correction, and client-related tickets through internal systems
* Communicate regularly with internal teams and clients to ensure compliance and issue resolution
* Assist with new tax code setup, including research and documentation of requirements
* Support multi-state payroll tax compliance across multiple entities
* 5 years of payroll tax experience (filings, compliance, agency interaction)
* Strong knowledge of federal and state payroll tax regulations
* Experience in multi-state, multi-company payroll environments or outsourcing models
* Ability to manage deadlines and multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
* Strong client-facing communication skills, including interaction with leadership and business owners
* Proficiency with Excel and payroll/tax systems (CRM tools like Salesforce a plus)
* High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* CPP certification is a plus
* Employment Type: Direct Hire
* Schedule: Monday-Friday, standard business hours (flexibility available)
* Location: Hybrid (initial onsite training period, then partial remote)
* Salary: ~$70K (flexible based on experience)
