PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Custodian/Repairperson is responsible for performing custodial duties, minor maintenance and other miscellaneous duties in order to ensure that cooperative buildings and facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe and sanitary manner.
REPORTING RESPONSIBILITIES
Reports to Manager of Safety, Forestry and Facilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Custodian/Repairperson is responsible for the following tasks:
- Clean building by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming
- Maintain storage areas and cleaning equipment, materials and supplies in a safe and orderly manner
- Service, clean and supply restrooms
- Gather and empty trash
- Dust furniture, walls, machines, or equipment in office and facilities
- Set up, arrange, or remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, or scaffolding to prepare facilities for events, such as banquets or meetings
- Clean and polish furniture and fixtures
- Steam clean or shampoo carpets; strip, seal, finish and polish floors
- Move heavy furniture, equipment, or supplies, either manually or by using lift assistance
- Wash interior and exterior windows
- Perform minor maintenance repairs and installations, including snow removal and lawn equipment; changing oil, blades, filters, etc.
- Manicure grounds and landscape including mowing, weed control, planting, mulching or removing undesirable plants/shrubs
- Requisition supplies or equipment needed for cleaning, maintenance and event planning duties
- Replace light bulbs and ballasts on regular schedule
- Deliver trucks, trailers and equipment to field personnel as requested
- Clean company vehicles as directed
- Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
- Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems
- Clearing snow/debris from walkways and parking lot
- Maintain general service requirements of HVAC equipment
- Other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations department seasonal help.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

- High School Diploma/GED
- Valid Illinois driver's license
WORK CONDITIONS
Work will be performed inside and outside; with the outside work involving various weather conditions.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit; use hands, arms, and fingers to handle, feel, or reach; climb or balance; smell, talk, and hear.
- Employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Requires face-to-face discussions with individuals
- Includes exposure to contaminants
- Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions
- Requires working outdoors, exposed to all weather conditions
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be willing and able to work extra and/or irregular hours as the needs of the job may require.
- Demonstrated competency in use of computer and Microsoft suite.
- Must observe all safety rules and regulations adopted by CBEC.
- Must attend schools and conferences as requested by the CBEC management.
- Must be able to travel on a limited basis. Most trips will be limited to a two hundred mile radius of Bloomington; occasional other trips in the country.
Must be able to pass a background check. We also conduct pre-employment drug testing. Any job offer will be based on the results of background and drug testing.
