The Senior Analyst or Associate, Corporate Development will support the evaluation, execution, and integration of the company’s strategic growth initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions, investments, joint ventures, and other corporate development opportunities. The role will also have responsibility for maintaining the corporate financial model and supporting the annual budgeting and valuation process.
This position sits at the intersection of corporate development, finance, and business planning, and offers significant exposure to senior leadership, cross functional teams, and external partners.
Major Accountabilities:
1. Corporate Development & Transaction Execution. Support the end‑to‑end execution of M&A transactions, investments, divestitures, and strategic partnerships. Build and review transaction‑specific financial models, valuations, and return analyses. Coordinate financial and commercial due diligence with internal teams and external advisors. Prepare presentations for executive team and Board of Directors
2. Strategic & Market Analysis · Conduct market, industry, and competitive analyses to assess the strategic fit and value creation potential of growth opportunities · Support long‑term planning, portfolio optimization, and strategic initiatives · Monitor industry trends and identify potential acquisition or partnership opportunities
3. Corporate Financial Model & Valuation - Maintain and update the corporate financial model, ensuring accurate representation of operating performance, capital structure, and strategic initiatives · Own and execute the annual corporate valuation process · Support the annual budgeting process in collaboration with FP&A, and business unit leaders · Perform scenario and sensitivity analyses to support capital allocation, valuation outcomes, and strategic decision‑making
General Responsibilities:
- Evaluate strategic investment, acquisition, and partnership opportunities through detailed financial, valuation, and strategic analysis
- Maintain and enhance financial and valuation models, budgets, forecasts, and transaction impacts
- Support corporate development initiatives through financial modelling, valuation analysis, due diligence support, and cross‑functional coordination
- Prepare financial analyses and materials to support investment decisions, and annual corporate valuation
- Collaborate closely with FP&A, Treasury, Accounting, Legal, and operations teams to ensure alignment across planning, valuation, and capital allocation processes
- Provide analytical support for financing, capital structure, and strategic planning initiatives
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Math, or a related discipline
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in corporate development, strategic finance, investment banking, private equity, valuations, or a related role
- Professional designation (CPA, CFA, CBV) or MBA preferred
- Strong financial modeling, analytical, and presentation skills
- Prior understanding of regulated utility financial models is an asset, but not required
- Minimal travel to be expected
The expected salary range for this role is $90,000–$120,000 CAD, with a competitive benefits package. Final compensation will be determined based on candidate skills, experience, and role alignment.
