Sr. Financial Analyst – Real Estate Development
Position Overview
A privately held real estate investment and development firm is seeking a highly analytical and motivated Real Estate Financial Analyst to join its team. This fully onsite role will work closely with ownership, investors, financial institutions, and internal stakeholders to underwrite, evaluate, and report on real estate investments.
This position requires strong financial modeling capabilities and close coordination with lenders and internal teams, with a particular emphasis on construction lending, draw processes, and cash management. The ideal candidate will bring a solid understanding of real estate finance, construction processes, and capital structures, along with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial & Cash Management
- Oversee project-level and corporate cash management, including forecasting, tracking, and reporting cash flows
- Monitor sources and uses of funds across multiple projects to ensure alignment with budgets and financing structures
- Maintain accurate cash flow projections and identify potential shortfalls or funding needs
- Coordinate fund transfers, capital calls, and distributions with ownership and internal teams
Construction Draw Management
- Manage the full construction draw process, including preparation, review, and submission of draw packages
- Coordinate with general contractors, project managers, and lenders
- Review invoices, lien waivers, and supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance
- Track draw schedules and ensure adherence to project timelines and budgets
Project & Construction Finance Support
- Support underwriting and financial analysis for development and acquisition projects
- Maintain and update project budgets, cost tracking, and variance analysis
- Partner closely with development and construction teams to understand project progress and financial impacts
- Assist with project closeouts, loan conversions, and transitions to permanent financing
General Financial Analysis & Reporting
- Prepare financial reports and materials for ownership and internal stakeholders
- Analyze project performance and provide recommendations to improve financial outcomes
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, financial policies, and reporting standards
Additional Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain relationships with asset managers and external stakeholders
- Support the broader real estate team with finance and accounting-related tasks as needed
- Assist with corporate initiatives such as entity formations, restructurings, and system implementations
- Participate in special projects and cross-functional initiatives as required
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Finance, Accounting, or related field strongly preferred
- Minimum of six (6) years of real estate investment, finance, or related experience
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and real estate financial modeling
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) preferred
- Ability to analyze financial statements including P&L, balance sheet, and operating metrics
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly
